Credit Cards For People With No Credit

I work in a hotel as a waiter and i have to accept payments via credit and debit cards but i dont know how to work the machine?

Does anybody know the routine you have to do with it?

all i know is:

Take the customers card

put it in the machine

enter the amount they have to pay

ask them to put in their pin number

give the first reciept to them with their card then take teh bill and the next reciept and place it in the till?

Is that correct???

Do I have the right as a merchant not to give cash back or refund a debit/check card purchase?
