I have applied twice and they have never even sent me a letter or anything. I have a Credit Score of 700 so that can't be the reason.

My understanding is the negative information is only allowed to be reported on your credit report for 7 years. So since I completely stopped paying my credit cards last August "06" should all negative information regarding these account disappear from my credit report in August 2013? or Since the credit companies continue to report each month when does the auctual 7 years start, is it when you last made a payment at all or is it when it's transferred to collections, or is it when it's made a charge off, please help. Thank you.
I still have 2 higher limit credit cards which I have a perfect payment history with. It's not like I wont have any Credit Cards I will still be building good history till 2013.

A percentage for gas won't mean anything to me for the next 3 or 4 years, since I'm living in Japan I wont have a car. My credit report lists two scores as good and one as excellent. I don't want a discover card since I haven't seen any place that accepts that over here (but maybe I'm just not noticing it) I refuse to pay an annual fee and the APR is only a minor concern since I haven't carried a balance in a few years and when I do it's only for a couple of months. I currently have a Chase credit card with travel benefits that seem to really suck and an American Express with points that really suck. But I have low APR's on both of those around 8% and great transfer rates so if need be I can always transfer to those cards. I only want to get one more card, the only reason I wouldn't close one of the other two is because I don't want my history to shorten.

I transferred some balances to a 0% interest (on balance transfers) a while ago and although I thought I would have it paid during the introductory offer period I'm far from it. Can I transfer the balance to another one when the intro offer expires? I get these offers in the mail all the time. I dont' see a reason why I can't do it again but I'm not sure. Also, what will that do to my credit?

So I was recently informed that my AMEX card was canceled. They gave me several reasons, but it doesn't really make sense.

They said it's because I haven't had the card for very long, which is true, I've only had the card for 4 months.

The next reason was because I haven't had a long credit history, which is true because I'm a Canadian immigrant and I've only had a social security number for over a year, but I've been building credit the whole time.

The last reason, which they say is the reason that "did it" was because I recently purchased a car, and the car company checked my credit twice. They said those credit checks are usually consolidated into one "ding" on my credit, but for some reason it wasn't.

I was approved for the car, and I also have another credit card (a VISA). The car, the VISA and the AMEX have never held balances, and I've always paid off the cards in full. I also have a secure, high paying job, and I wasn't making any huge charges (the largest bill I ever had for the AMEX was 00).

I feel like this was some sort of misunderstanding, but I'm really at a loss for what to do.

I called the credit agency, and they said all I could do was file a dispute, which didn't seem too promising. I called AMEX, and after being transfered around in circles, I was told they would check with their "credit people" and they would get back to me.

Is there something I can do to get my card re-activated? If not, is there some way I can minimize the damage that this "canceled card" is sure to have to my credit?
