What is the best credit card to get if you have a small credit history. I currently only have one item showing on all three major credit bureaus. It is a student loan that I've had opened since June 2006 with no late payments. Current Balance is around 1,600. Original balance was 2,700. So a small loan, but a loan none the less. I have only been making the original small payment that was set up for me to make, and not paying over that amount, though I am learning now I should have been making higher payments to improve my credit score. I've never missed a payment though.

So after giving that information to you, my question is...Will I be able to apply for a credit card with this small credit history and actually get approved? I do not want to get a secured credit card, though if I have to I will. I figured I would give it a shot asking around to see what other people can tell me!

Thanks in Advance!

Just an FYI I have no other bills in my name as far as utilities etc. They are all in my roommates name.

I know that FICO is an independent company that issues the summary score to the three major Credit bureaus that ranges some where between 400's to 850
what is the top/bottom beacon score ?
I uinderstand all the differences between the 3 bureaus I understand what can effect your credit but I was not sure if Beacon was it's own company like FICO or if it was a different name for the same thing.

I am new in US and no credit card company agrees to give me a card, what can I do?
But do all the others report to major credit bureaus? this is the thing I need , to build a good credit for the future ,if the other banks dont report it's no use for me.
