Wasn't it harder to be financed for some things. My mom was telling me about when she turned 18. She had every card, out there. She also told me she received instant approval on an auto loan and put a 6k down payment on a credit card. What happened to these days?! Wasn't it harder to get financed and interest rates were higher? My dad bought a Mercedes in 99' with tier 1 credit but was still charged like 9-13% intrest

I want to switch Credit Card companies, does anyone know how this will work? I have 700.00 on a card and I want to open a new card and transfer this balance to it and close the other account. Can I do this and:

1. Will it hurt my credit score?
2. Can I close that account, or does it need to stay open?

I’m planning on paying off the balance soon, so it’s not going to be on there long. By the way, the transfer rate to the new company is 2.99%

My current rate is 19% on about 10,000 in debt. I received a letter from capitalone for a no interest card until nov 2009 on balance transfers. Is it a good idea to do the transfer? Seems like it is.
