I have about £1,500 on my credit card, but at the moment (due to the credit crunch) I can only afford to pay the minimum amount of £50/month. Obviously this will get me nowhere, and I'm keen to avoid these useless charges.

I'm interested in getting a credit card with 0% on balance transfers, but I don't really understand how it works. Do you need to have two of these cards, and then transfer the balance between them both? I doubt I would get accepted for even ONE

I also notice that a lot of them offer e.g. nine months 0% on balance transfers, but is this from the time you open the card, or on balances over 9 months old? And what happens after this time expires? Do they whack on hefty charges, or do they allow you to continue shifting your balance as long as you do it religiously every month?

If you know about this, please advise, because I don't know what I should be looking for with these cards. Thanks.
I normally try to pay the minimum (around £40) plus an additional £20, but I try to pay as much as possible each month.
Does this mean that when I transfer my balance onto the 0% card when I open it, I don't need to transfer it off again until the 0% offer ends? I thought you needed TWO cards, and to transfer between BOTH cards EVERY month!

I have a Citi card that once in awhile offers fixed APRs of 3.99% or 4.99% for the life of the loan, or 0% for 6-9 months. I have about k credit limit. My Capital One on the other hand stinks at a ,400 credit limit. Anyways, I'm thinking of doing a balance transfer from the Citi card to my checking account for $$$ and putting the $$$ in another bank that gives 5.20% interest, giving me about ,300 at the end of the year. I then pay the credit card in full.

In other words, I'll borrow the credit card company's money to make money. What I'm really looking for are credit cards that offer high credit limits and occassionally offers 0% interest rates for 6 months or more, with no more than 0 balance transfer fee, so I can make money off of them.

If you know of them from experience, please let me know. For example, if you have a Chase credit card or something that offers something similar occassionally, please respond.

Thanks in advance.
Yep, I understand very well how credit card companies work. When I do the balance transfer, I do not touch the credit card at all because I know my payments I make will go towards the lowest APR amount first, effectively leaving my high APR amounts accruing interest.

I will only do this with 0% balance transfers if it's fixed with no other gimmicks. Plus I have real good credit and am responsible in paying my bills on time.

I know it sounds too good to be true, but I have excellent credit and I've been looking online and nobody offers more than 6 months. Even if its 9 months it still good. Does any of you know or has received such offer and can share it with me?
THANK YOU.
